Carol

I had my surgery in October of 1985 when I was 17 years old. I had about 2 1/2 lbs removed total. (I know, not a lot compared to some.)

Heather was born 8 years later. I struggled with breastfeeding her and eventually managed to produce about 75% of her nutritional needs. She breastfed for 10 months.

Lisa was born 19 months later (one month early) and due to some complications that landed us back into the hospital, my milk supply was severly diminished and she stopped nursing at 6 weeks old.

Kira was born 2 years after that. She was my first baby born after meeting other BFAR mothers. :) I was able to produce more than 60% of her nutritional needs. It is lower than it could have been because I chose to spend less time working on milk supply and more time on family. Kira is currently 2 years and 3 months old months old and is weaning. We breastfeed maybe every three days. Not sure how I feel about it but I think we are both ready. Besides, I never thought I would breastfeed this long...especially in those first days and weeks when I was "in the trees" as one BFAR called it. <grin>
